Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, maintain the school buildings to the highest possible level with Health and Safety as a priority.

Key Accountabilities:
- Installation: Install various types of air conditioning systems, including split systems, central air units, and ductless mini-splits, following manufacturer instructions and industry standards
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on air conditioning systems to ensure they operate at peak efficiency. This includes cleaning coils, changing filters, and checking refrigerant levels
- Repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in AC systems, such as refrigerant leaks, electrical issues, and mechanical problems. Replace faulty components as needed
- System Testing: Conduct performance tests and checks on AC systems to ensure they meet required specifications and resolve any issues detected during testing
- Customer Service: Communicate with clients to understand their AC system concerns, provide cost estimates for repairs or installations, and ensure client satisfaction through excellent service
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service calls, repairs, and installations. Complete service reports and document any recommendations for clients
- Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and industry standards to ensure safe and legal practices when working with refrigerants and HVAC systems.
Skills Description
Person Specification
Education:
- High school or equivalent qualifications
Certification or training in HVAC or a related field is preferred
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in a general maintenance role
- Proven experience as an AC Technician
Competencies:
- Ability to manage and maintain general areas of the school facility
- Undertake general repairs so that the school is kept safe
- Work with team members to problem solve and fulfil duties
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and components
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical manuals
