Vision, Mission and Education Strategy:
• Articulate a vision for outstanding counselling and gain the commitment of all team
members to the delivery of this vision.
• Set a clear direction for counselling provision that leads to continuous improvement and promotes high quality outcomes for all students
• Support the development of policies and practices leading to high quality outcomes for all
students Think creatively and imaginatively to anticipate and solve problems and identify
opportunities.
• Contribute to effective school self-evaluation and improvement planning.
Operational Leadership
• Set clear expectations and establish constructive working relationships with colleagues at
all levels Facilitate collaborative work that dovetails and supports the Charter School
vision and development, and its commitment to raising standards
• Foster a sense of 'team spirit' through a culture of recognition and praise
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• When required, chair meetings effectively, and make presentations to parents, colleagues
and to Taaleem
• Judge when to consult with others and when to defer to the line manager
• Undertake any professional duties that may reasonably be delegated by the leadership
Academic Performance Measurement
• Be aware of the academic profile of students that are
referred Support the identification of students at risk of
underachievement
• Ensure effective links with teaching staff and other members of the student support team to
meet the needs of students
Well Being and Safety
• Ensure an outstanding level of pastoral care and support is provided for all referred students.
• Ensure that counselling support impacts positively on students’ progress and meets individual
needs. Contribute to a culture of care at every level with respect to teachers and students and
promote responsibility in order to ensure thatthe education objectives are delivered, and the
morale ofthe school community is maintained to expected standards.
• Promote the effective management of student behavior and safeguard the safety and
welfare of children.
• Be aware of the responsibility for personal Health, Safety and Welfare and that of others who
may be affected by your actions or inactions.
• Co-operate on all issues to do with Health, Safety & Welfare.
Counselling Responsibilities
• Be responsible for the confidential counselling services to students as needed.
• Provide guidance, advice and support to staff with regards to referred or at-risk
students. Maintain appropriate and confidential records.
• Liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Leads on a frequent basis.
• Deal with or report incidents that are seen or reported regarding students’ welfare.
• Provide regular audit information such as numbers, age range and types of problems to
the SLT. Provide First Aid Mental Health provision.
• To continually review and evaluate the service and produce an action plan as
necessary. Take a lead on further developing the counselling service.
• Develop effective partnership working with Mental Health provision locally.
School Procedures and Processes
• Contribute to the development of administration procedures and processes in order to
ensure the school operates effectively and efficiently.
• Participate in meetings as necessary, some of which may be in own time.
• Take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research
and developments which may lead to improvements in the counselling service provided.
• Arrange and deliver relevant training for staff as and when needs are identified.
• Assist in ensuring that Islamic and Arabic traditions and values, and Taaleem core values are
embedded and lived, in order to build a consistent and distinctive value framework for
students.
Feedback to Parents and Students
• As and when appropriate, involve parents in their children’s development so that they
have a positive impact on their children’s progress and achievements.
• Participate in Open Days and school parent engagement activities.
Other Duties
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, as reasonably requested by the
management.
OSH Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Bring up OSH concerns to the attention of his direct Supervisor or OSH department.
• Exercise effective supervision of their pupils and to know the procedures in respect of fire,
first aid and other emergencies, and to carry them out.
• Follow the OSH procedures applicable to their area of work.
• Give clear oral and written health and safety instructions and warnings to students as
often as necessary.
• Ensure the use of personal protective equipment and guards where necessary.
• Make recommendations to their Heads of Department/School Principal on OSH equipment
and on additions or necessary improvements to plant, tools, equipment, or machinery.
• Ensure that personal items of equipment (electrical or mechanical) are not brought into
the school without prior authorization.
• Regularly check their classrooms for potential hazards and report any observed to the
Facilities Manager.
• Report all accidents, defects and dangerous occurrences to their Head of Department in the
first instance
• Be vigilant in work area, identify and report to their Supervisors about imminent
dangers / hazards / concerns to environment, health and safety.
