Class Teacher (Year 3) – Dubai British School Jumeira (DBSJ)

The Role

The successful candidate will be an exceptional classroom practitioner who contributes meaningfully to student learning, team culture, and the wider school community. They will design learning experiences that honour student individuality, provoke deep thinking, and develop the competencies young people need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our Primary School is built on a strong foundation of values and professional beliefs. A cornerstone of our model is the relationship between a teacher, their students, and the families they serve. In recognition of this, DBSJ operates a Cycle Approach where both students and teachers move through the cycle together in an effort to strengthen continuity and relational trust

For this position, we are seeking a Class Teacher who feels confident and competent teaching in Year 1 who embraces the relational continuity that helps students transition successfully between key stages.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver purposeful, inclusive and challenging lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
  • Use assessment information, student experience and classroom observation to personalise learning.
  • Reflect regularly on the impact of pedagogical choices, demonstrating curiosity and a growth mindset.
  • Build a learning environment that celebrates neurodiversity, encourages productive struggle and supports independence.

Contribution to School Culture

  • Collaborate across the primary team to ensure alignment, progression and coherence of curriculum.
  • Participate actively in extra-curricular and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support colleagues through collaboration, open dialogue, and shared professional inquiry.
  • Contribute to DBSJ’s welcoming culture through professionalism, warmth and hospitality.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed, QTS, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a relevant setting
  • Evidence of strong classroom practice and student progress
  • Alignment with DBSJ’s ethos, values, and reflective professional culture
  • Willingness to contribute to wider school initiatives
  • Understanding of inclusive, data-informed, and student-centred practice

Desirable

  • Experience in British or international curriculum schools
  • Familiarity with KHDA or DSIB inspection frameworks
